The following information applies to the shortlisted artists who will be invited to submit their concept proposals.
- There is no restriction on the type of material and technique.
- The artistic interventions are strictly bound to the surface of the ceiling and/or walls of the tunnels.
- Successful candidates will be awarded a total all-inclusive budget of 75,000 € (TTC) per tunnel. This budget includes: the conception AND the realisation, as well as honorariums, fabrication, transportation, materials fee, insurance etc.
A maximum of 30% of this budget can be used for the concept and the participatory phase of the projet, hence a minimum of 70% will be reserved for the realisation, fabrication, installation and materials.
The project consists of two stages: a firm stage (concept) and a conditional stage (realisation and implementation). If both the City of Brussels and Infrabel accept the project and the planning permission is granted, the second part of the project will be ordered.
Successful candidates will be chosen by a jury composed of city officials, art professionals and architects with experience working in the field of public space.
Applications will be judged on the quality of the artistic intention, the participatory process, technical feasibility, durability and a realistic budget proposition.
The tunnels are being given in their current condition. No preliminary work will take place on the walls or on the ceilings.
